What’s your motivation in life? In order to tap into the source of your motivation, you have to tap into motivation itself for understanding. So, what’s at the root of Motivation anyway? I was always a heavy child; I was so heavy at a young age that the weight bowed my legs. My heaviest weight was right around 500 pounds. My mother passed away when I was 22 years old and my sister passed away less than three years later. Grief-stricken and desiring change I used these events as fuel to propel me forward in life. They propelled me through hundreds of pounds of weight loss, graduating from college, and starting a business.
However, I didn’t realize at the time that these things were changing me as drastically as they were. Overcoming these ordeals is what initially prompted my desire to inspire others. I wanted to provide a light for those who may be venturing through a dark tunnel, burdened with despair. What I went through in life combined with who brought me through them are my motives, what are yours? The word “motive” is the root of motivation. Therefore, if you don’t know the root of something then it’ll be harder to appreciate what grows from it and how to use it.
“The word “motive” is the root of motivation. Therefore, if you don’t know the root of something then it’ll be harder to appreciate what grows from it & how to use it.”
What are the reasons behind what you do? What keeps you up at night and gives your engine fuel? Over time you may even find that your motives have changed, and that’s fine and expected! For instance, being married has changed some of my motives in life, in order to protect and honor my wife. It can be challenging to get motivated if we don’t know the root of that motivation and it can be hard to stay motivated if the root of that motivation has not been deeply rooted. Often times our emotions and our minds do a great job of masking our motives not only from others but from ourselves as well. Although #MorningMotivations are designed to get your day going the only thing that can keep it going is you. What are your motives for the day? What are your motives for success?
