“God never gives you more than you can handle”. What a popular well-known phrase, of which I’m sure you have either heard or used. I even mentioned it in a previous message, from the perspective that God won’t give you the next step until you’re prepared for it as opposed to only looking at it from the perspective that God won’t put too much on your plate.
However, my wife and I were discussing the phrase this past week and realized just how flawed that statement actually is. God gives you more than you can handle on a daily basis. For instance, attempt to breathe without a pulse! Sure it’s a dramatic example, but even from a practical standpoint, God puts into situations that are overbearing and tough so that we may turn to him for assistance!
“Be careful how much credit you take when it’s truly not due”.
That phrase strips power from the creator and attempts to self empower us more than we actually deserve to be empowered. God doesn’t give us more than GOD can handle, and it’s up to us to be humble enough to turn to the one loading the weight onto our plate than to think we are the ones strong enough to conquer all without any extra assistance. Pride causes a long fall when consumed by a small mind. Be careful how much credit you take when it’s truly not due.
