When is the last time you took a good punch?! How about the last time something strenuous took your breath away? Been a while? did you quit? did you pause? did you stop? How you respond means everything, here’s how; One thing that we have found to be true is that there’s no elevator to success. There are no faster methods to the top and there are short cuts to reaching your final destination. In the midst of the daily struggle, it’s often encouraged not to give up, don’t quit, or don’t stop, but there is a difference between quitting and stopping.
Quitting is giving up on your desired goal. It submitting to failure and accepting defeat. One can stop along their journey without succumbing to failure. As you’re climbing the staircase to success don’t forget that it’s okay to take breaks. Life will test your endurance and your ability to take a punch and both of those will take the wind out of you! How will you respond to being hit with something you have never encountered? How will you respond when fatigue has become so heavy that you can’t move? The answer is to rest, but not to quit. The answer is to pause to regroup and regain strength, but not to quit.
The journey of 1000 miles began with one step, but I’m sure over that 1000 miles there were plenty of breaks along the way. Your longevity depends on how well you maintain your vessel and maintaining your vessel will require you being able to effectively listen to it when it’s telling you that it needs a break. The questions then become, what does that rest look like and for how long? Some moments in our life may require longer/shorter periods of rest than others, but only your body knows the answer. Stay in tune and remember to stop, but don’t quit
